The experiences highlighted here reflect the personal interests and traditions that have shaped how I see the world. Through sports, travel, and a fascination with history, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for culture, place, and the stories behind communities. Whether playing soccer each week, visiting historic landmarks with my family, or collecting historic maps and globes, these experiences continue to shape my curiosity about how people, history, and places connect.

I collect historical maps and globes from around the world, with pieces ranging from modern cartography to originals dating back to the 1800s. I’m especially drawn to early maps of my hometown, Troy, NY, because they show how the city has transformed over time. Collecting these maps allows me to trace the development of streets, neighborhoods, and industries that shaped the community. For me, this hobby is more than collecting—it’s a way to connect with the places that shaped my life and see how the past continues to influence the present.

Every Monday, without fail, I play on a local soccer team, something I’ve done in one form or another since I was four years old. The sport has always been a core part of my life and my family’s identity. With my family from Naples, Italy, soccer is more than a pastime for us; it’s tradition, community, and a connection to where we come from. Playing each week grounds me, keeps me active, and reminds me of the competitive spirit and passion I grew up with.

Since I was a kid, my dad and I have spent weekends visiting historic homes across New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont, something that eventually expanded into trips to historic sites around the world. Over the years, this tradition grew into one of the most meaningful parts of my life. I’ve become drawn to the stories these homes preserve, local history, national turning points, the people who lived there, and the cultures that shaped them. Some of my favorites include Frederic Church’s Olana, with its striking Middle Eastern-inspired architecture, and the Royal Palace of Caserta in southern Italy, whose scale and artistry reflect the cultural heritage of my family. Exploring these places is my version of art; it’s where I find peace, curiosity, and a sense of connection to the world around me.
